During course "Collaborative lecture performance" with Ahmet Ogut students were making performances in group, that were publicated on Summer Salzburg Academy website (22.08.2020). Here you can see documentation of the performance with translation of lecture, oryginally made in Belarussian language and transcripted into belarussian ornament.

Сімвалізм і міфалогія колераў беларускага сцяга ў народнай культуры

  

У Буларусі суіснуюць два суцістаўныя сцягі: бел-чырвона-белы сцяг і зялёна-чырвоны, са стужкай арнаменту з левага боку. Першы сцяг апазіцыйны, другі афіцыйны.

 

Падчас пратэстаў апранаюцца ў белы - такая з'ява глыбока сімвалічная. Невыпадкова на шлюб і ў труну беларусы апранаюцца ў белы- яны вераць, што такім чынам пераходзяць ў белы свет. Чалавек у белым - адсутны, той, які страціў ранейшую сацыяльную ролю, але яшчэ не набыў новую.

Белы  выкарыстоўваецца ў названні расліннасці і жывёлаў, хатняга начыння, мянушкаў, краіны Беларусь, горадаў ды рэкаў. Сынонімы слова белы - чысты, празрысты, дадатны, светлы, ясны, святы. 

Белы дзень абазначае раніцу. Белы звязаны з замагілным і міфалагічным центрам. Свет называюць белым, але месяц, сонца ды зоры - ясныя.

Паводле замоў, з белага каменя бяруць пачатак агонь і вада,

а ў замовах ад крывацёку выкарыстоўваецца вобраз белай гары,

 

Пакрыццё чагосьці белай фарбай перакрывае канал сувязі, таму нельга бяліць хату ў памінальныя дні. Белы абазначае нараджэнне новага і знікненне старога,

- белы твар з'яўляецца ідэалам прыгажосці, белае цела - ідэальна здаровае і чыстае

Падчас жалобы па памерлых, у хаце свяцілі белыя - нефарбаваныя яйкі. Бялок яйка - з'яўляўся ахвярай, любімай ежай дэманічных істот.

Белыя свойскія жывёлы надзяляліся магічнымі ўласцівасцямі.

Пасеў грэчкі з белага фартуха спрыяў яе доўгаму цвіценню

Белы колер асацыюецца са стваральнай сілай яйка, малака, мужчынскага семеня.

 

Ярка-чырвоны колер быццам жывая кроў - сімвал жыцця, НАРАДЖЭННЯ, МАЛАДОСЦІ, ўсягго, што квітнела, свяціла, было вясёлым, радасным і прыгожым. Чырвоны пазначаўся як рыжы, красныю

Падчас вясельнай цырымоніі ў царкве маладыя людзі стаялі побач на белай частцы чырвона бела- чырвонага ручніка. Труну з целам апуСКАЛІ ў магілу на спецыяльна падрыхтаваных, таксама расфарбаваных ручніках.

 

У загаворах вельмі частай была  чырвоная/ белая апазыцыя. Белы і чырвоны сімвалізуюць  мужчынскі і жаночыя пачаткі. Чырвоны і белы выкарыстоўваюцца падчас цяжарнасці, а таксама пасля нараджэння дзіцяці ў рытуалах купання, кармлення, упрыгожвання і шмат іншага. Чысціня дзіцячай скуры і яе звычайны колер у адпаведнасці са славянскімі народнымі ўяўленнямі ў значнай ступені залежаць ад захавання цяжарнай жанчыне забаронаў, напрыклад, есці яечню проста з патэльні было нельга.

Жыццё раслін і смерць чалавека ўспрымалі зялёнымі.

Зялёная галінка ў народных песнях і тэкстах усіх відаў азначала памерлую

стрыечнаю сястру, зялёная бяроза была анімацыяй памерлай жанчыны. Зялёныя дрэвы: дуб і явар сімвалізавалі нябожчыка. Калі казалі пра нейкія ЗЯЛЁНЫЯ ДУХІ, размова ішла пра дэманаў.

 Назва зялёны звязана са словам вільготны і  супрацьпастаўлена чырвонаму, што азначае засуху.

Зялёнага колеру яшчэ ўяўлялася скура лясных дэманаў. Вадалей быў зусім зялёны,

уключаючы бараду. У хрысціянскай вобразнасці зялёны колер азначае спакусу. Сатану малявалі з зялёнымі вачыма.  Зялёны сустракаем ў прымаўках - " у беднасці зялёныя вочы" і "зялёная туга".

У магіі хваробы адпраўлялі на зялёныя лугі. Зялёны колер меў"іншы свет", а магілы ўспрымалі- зялёнай прасторай небяспечнаяй для чалавека.

Symbolism and mythology of colors of the Belarusian flag according to folk culture

​

 

Belarus has two opposing flags: a white-red-white flag and a green-red one, with an ornamental ribbon on the left. The first flag is oppositional, the second official. During the protests they dress in white - such a phenomenon is deeply symbolic. It is no coincidence that Belarusians are dressed in white for marriage and the coffin. Disguised in white before moving into the white world. The man in white is missing. It has lost its former social role but has not yet acquired a new one. This condition can last from a few minutes to many years.

 

White is the most semantically loaded color. Denotes death in a positive sense. It is used in the names of flora and fauna, household utensils, nicknames, geographical names.

- white day means morning

- associated with the afterlife and mythological center,

- white light, clear moon, sun, stars,

- according to orders, fire and water originate from a white stone,

- in orders from bleeding the image of a white mountain is played,

 

- covering something with white paint covers the communication channel, so you can not whitewash the house on memorial days,

- white denotes the birth of the new and the disappearance of the old,

- white face is the ideal of beauty, white body - perfectly healthy and clean - washed

- when mourning for the dead, the house shone white - unpainted eggs - egg white - the victim, the favorite food of demonic creatures

- white horse - invisible, disembodied, foreign, white - the color of death

- white domestic animals were endowed with magical properties,

- It was believed that sowing buckwheat from a white apron promotes its long flowering

- white color is associated with the creative power of eggs, milk, male semen.

 

The bright red color is like living blood - a symbol of life,

symbol of BIRTH, YOUTH,

the opposite of death. This word was used to describe everything that flourished, shone, was cheerful, joyful and beautiful. The color was denoted as red, red, goji

(but only in the sense of beautiful, good, the best.

 

white - red white - contrasting with a ritual towel red-white-red

During the wedding ceremony in the church, young people stood side by side on the white part of a red-white-red towel. The coffin with the body was lowered into the grave on specially prepared red-white-red towels.

 

In conspiracies the red / white opposition was very frequent. White and red also symbolize masculine and feminine beginnings. Red and white are used during pregnancy as well as after the birth of a baby in rituals of bathing, feeding, decorating and more. The purity of the baby's skin and its usual color in accordance with Slavic folk beliefs largely depend on the observance of prohibitions on pregnant women, for example, eating scrambled eggs straight from the pan was impossible.

Green, depending on the context, meant life or death. The life of plants seemed green, and for people death was perceived as green.

The green branch in folk songs and lyrics of all kinds meant dead

cousin, green birch was an animation of a dead woman. Green trees: oak and sycamore symbolized the deceased. When we talked about some GREEN SPIRITS, we were talking about demons.

In the case of plants including grapes and wine, green was understood as the color characteristic of them themselves. The name is green. associated with the word wet and contrasted with red, meaning drought.

Green is the color of forest demons. Aquarius was completely green,

including the beard. In Christian imagery, green signifies temptation, Satan is depicted with green eyes. The famous sayings are “in poverty green eyes” and “green longing”.

- the green color of "another world", and graves - green space is dangerous for the person.
