Cake for a penny

I was selling the cakes during the performance. The prices were very low. Each piece of cake resembled a flag. The most expensive was "Polish", the cheapest "Chinese". However, I - the saleswoman were using names referring to colours of every cake. I wanted to check, whether the cake with Polish flag would be sold out the fastest. It was really sold at first, but I got the impression that it was about the popularity of cream and cherry flavor. It had the highest price - 11 pennies for a piece. The flags used for the project belonged to the countries from which Poland imported the most in 2013. In addition, due to my own nationality, a flag of the Belarusian opposition (which no one recognized) was also there. The problem concerned conscious consumerism - it was to provoke reflection on the selection, by all persons participating in the action.

I was hoping that there would be patriots among the clients, but only Ukrainians found their flag. Most adults were  focused only on the price and taste, describe above every cake. Flags in the cross-section of the cakes were noticed mainly by children, perhaps because of their arrangement at the height of their eyes. This action took place in 2015, during  the annual art action called  Art on the Stock Market, on the Stock Market Elizówka in Lublin.
