Blood Moon

          This long-duration performance was a part of Perfor Mensk Festiwal in Minsk, Belarus, in September 2019.

The idea of the "Bloody Moon" performance was to mix together several symbols:

- the rhomboidal ornament - the symbol of the moon. The wheel in the weaving was depicted as a diamond because you can't weave a perfect circle. The rhombus is a symmetrical geometric figure, the closest to the circle and the most "perfect";

- pancake - an ancient symbol of the sun, nowadays considered by Belarussians as one of their attributes; resembling the shape, form and "craters"  of full moon, formed by frying;

- the blood moon, which is an apocalyptic sign,

- the red colour in Belarusian weaving, symbolizing blood, and thus life.

The ornament of moon was created as result of connecting symbols with each other. It was composed of "bloody" red pancakes - full moons, arranged on a white tablecloth. The colors of the installation created during the perfromance were taken from an archaic Belarusian ritual towel, as well as a folk costume.
