Biography

Katarzyna Sienkiewicz (born 1991 in Hajnówka) is a painter, poet, and interdisciplinary artist. She graduated in Painting from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin and studied weaving at the Fine Arts High School in Supraśl. In her practice, she combines traditional techniques with experimental approaches to image and material.

She creates poetic-painterly compositions inspired by Belarusian symbolism, folk textiles, and ornamentation. Her work explores the relationship between pattern and text, memory and form. She uses painting techniques, elements of handicraft, gilding, and photography—combining them with her own visual alphabet of signs and cultural references. Her materials often include fluorescent pigments, plastic beads, and DIY methods, forming works that blur the line between tradition and contemporary art.

Her artistic practice focuses on exploring cultural heritage as well as personal experience connected to borderland identity. Katarzyna's works are a form of visual poetry—merging emotion, symbolism, and form into a multidimensional whole.

She lives and works in Lublin, Poland, where she is also involved in the conservation of artworks and historical artistic techniques.
